There is a “moment” that every minister experiences when addressing a crowd of people. If you are in the crowd, you may not realize that we see it, sense it – feel it. It’s what I can only define as a “wow” moment. You are probably experiencing it too but, from a different angle. You see, it’s the moment when we recognize that, “wow – they’re getting it!” The “it” mentioned is the topic or spiritual principal that we are trying to get through to you. And when you “get it” that’s one of the things that makes Pastors realize why we do what we do.
Believe it or not, this same phenomenon happens in a children’s ministry setting as well – A setting much like KidFusion. You may not think that this can happen – because they’re kids. To be perfectly honest – there are Sundays when I am almost toward the end of the sermon and I am starting to doubt that anything significant is really happening. But then it happens: Sometimes, slowly at first – but, it soon accelerates and it cuts right through the object lessons, stories, humor and media. Suddenly, I get that sense, “ah-ha! They’re getting it!” Those are the moments I live for.

Philippians 3:7-10
The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I'm tearing up and throwing out with the trash-along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant-dog dung. I've dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn't want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ-God's righteousness. I gave up all that inferior stuff so I could know Christ personally, experience his resurrection power, be a partner in his suffering, and go all the way with him to death itself. (Message Bible)
What are you willing to give up in order to know Christ? Maybe a sport, a hobby, or a few friends that may be keeping you from a deeper walk with Jesus. Paul says he gave up anything that got in the way. What a great testimony to all of us to follow. Paul was willing to take stock of his life and even more willing to get rid of the things that were keeping him from an intimate relationship with God. Time to take stock!

It was exciting to be with 18 women on Tuesday night for our Harmony Women’s Bible study. What a great group of women and what a hunger for God! We talked about our theology matching our reality. To put it quite simply….does our walk match our talk. I have tried most of my life to not be a game player. Over the years I have observed Christians who want to appear and sound like the “Saint of the Century,” however, when you watch their lives over a period of time, there is no consistency in their walk. Playing games as a so called Christian Believer disgusts me and is a total sham of how God expects us to walk the walk. I am thrilled to be part of a group of women that have a genuine hunger for learning to Believe God and Trust Him with their lives. I also am thrilled to watch the love and loyalty among our church as we grow together…what a great group of SISTERHOOD to be a part of.
We have started our Bible Study with a Five Statement Pledge of Faith:
1. God is who He says He is.
2. God can do what He says He can do.
3. I am who God says I am.
4. I can do all things through Christ.
5. God’s Word is Alive ands Active in me.

First of all, I'd like to give an idea to everyone just what Hi-Def Youth Ministries is all about. Hi-Def has taken new shaping in the last 8 months or so. We are not a "group" anymore, because we believe there are too many problems with being a "group." Youth "groups" don't necessarily love one another unconditionally. Youth "groups" tend to be very exclusive and occasionally hypocritical. Youth "groups" can sometimes put on a face to make it look like they are just another fun "group" of people. Youth "groups" are focused on things such as money, numbers, activities and games. We are no longer a youth "group." We are a youth CHURCH. Jesus died for the church, not a group!
Hi-Def is a place that no matter what student walks in the door, regardless of what they've done in their past, what their reputation may be, what family background they come from, or even what they've done earlier that day...they will be loved. We believe that, like I said before, too many youth "groups" out there are exclusive, hypocritical, and even condemning. Our youth have made it a point to go out of their way and continue to learn how to walk in the love of Christ, as well as how to show it. We are not necessarily focused on activities, but we do have some fun, that is guaranteed! Our main focus has been prayer, whether corporately or individually. Corporate prayer has completely transformed Hi-Def, and it has opened up ways for the students to be real and honest with each other about issues they are dealing with and it has given them opportunities to step up and come together as a group by praying for each other every single week.
Recently, prayer has continued to flourish within the kids. Every student in the group has shared an honest and vulnerable testimony up to this point, and the group has come together and prayed for every single one of them. Do the words HONEST and VULNERABLE scare some of you parents? To be HONEST, they should. Our kids have become one here at Hi-Def. They are no longer a group, and not just a church...but a family. We have complete trust in one another. I'm sure the kids have shared struggles and hardships that they haven't shared with anyone else, including parents, which in my opinion is sometimes the best place to share them, within the church...because there is unconditional love and complete trust as soon as you walk in the door. We believe that any situation or hardship can be revolutionized through prayer and a relationship with Christ...and our kids haven proven that to be true time and time again. It is the only healthy way they will get through any "impossible" situation or rough stretch in their lives.
Within the next couple weeks, Hi-Def will have some great people coming in to perform and speak. Witness, a christian hip/hop artist from North Central University will be here next week with some music and a phenomenal testimony that your kids won't want to miss. Tonight, in fact, we have a guest speaker, missionary Sandy Youngren who has survived many difficult situations.
You may not guess that Hi-Def is growing exponentially, because we are not about numbers. However, the areas that we are growing in are the most important. We have what every teenager on this planet is searching for: Love.
Thanks for checkin' out the blog! Stay tuned for more!

We are famous in Minnesota for having "The Body, Jesse Ventura" as our Governor in our historical past! Maybe hysterical is more fitting. But we do need to be famous as the church of God in being his body. That means everyone has a part in his service. What does a healthy body look like?
1 Corinthians 12:25-27
The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, the parts we mention and the parts we don't, 26the parts we see and the parts we don't. If one part hurts, every other part is involved in the hurt, and in the healing. If one part flourishes, every other part enters into the exuberance. 27You are Christ's body--that's who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your "part" mean anything. (The Message Bible)
We must all be involved in our gifts and talents in the body of Christ. We
must all seek to share Christ to those around us as the body. We must all
be ready to serve and give and share with each other as the body of Christ. When on person shares Christ with others through any numerous act of service or testimony it blesses us all. Take this time to share with others and meet the needs of others - it's what a body does!
