LIFE

Life Is For Everyone!

What is the most fun group you have ever been a part of? I loved when I coached Lacrosse this past year; it was a group of crazy boys with lots of testosterone and energy beyond measure. It challenged me, stretched me and grew me beyond measure as a coach and a father. A good group does that!

Small groups at Harmony are not new. We do believe that they are the key to significant growth in each believer’s life. So we are urging everyone to step into a group this year for yourself and your family. We notice that the early church met in small groups and that it was vital for all of them as they stood for Christ and strove to grow deeper in him. We also see Jesus in many small groups as he ministered to the world. He met with just John one on one. He met with Peter, James and John and he met with the 12 continually. All different sizes and all for different reasons except one – to challenge his followers to grow.

Ask yourself a tough question. Why not a small group for you this year? Maybe you don’t want people to know you better. You might be busy or overworked or not enough time. You may not feel like you would connect with anyone or with any purpose. Now ask yourself another tough question: what if you had been in a group this year. Time spent reading God’s word together, asking questions, praying for one another and even sharing one another’s burdens. Think of how much growth you would have experienced?

This year we want everyone in a LIFE Group. Get involved, start your own or give us ideas as to what you would like to see covered in a small group. What topic would it take for you to take time out of your busy life and seek to grow in God?

LIFE is for everyone! Experience life in a small group.

Got Any Spare Change?

I have heard that the only one who likes change is a wet baby. Good news, we qualify! Harmony Church is just approaching 3 years of age, get ready to blow out the candles. With our upcoming birthday we realized that there are always changes that need to be looked at! This year our focus is on changing things that will make Harmony more open to the non Christian and to the new believer. We will be trying out new formats for Sunday, new worship ideas and even a few surprises during the service.

What does this mean to the person who attends Harmony? It does not mean that we will stop preaching God’s word or staying true to our 3 main goals as a church: MGLG, Use our gifts and reach those who do not know Christ. What it does mean is that we need you to begin to understand that these changes are for you and those you come in contact with. We do not want to change just for change sake, but rather we want to change so that you are more comfortable inviting your friends to church.

Where’s Waldo? Remember that book? While in the middle of changes we are not going to point the all out – you will have to keep your eyes peeled to see if you notice all of them. Tell us what you think when you do and if you have any suggestions that will help us reach our community for Christ we are open.

Change is the key to growth in all areas of life. You cannot grow if you do not change. We are gearing up for some serious growth here at Harmony – strap in and get ready to see God move!

What Defines a Man?

What defines a man?

What do "Real Men" look like, act like, smell like?

Often our concept and understanding of a real man comes from the athletic heroes of today, the Hollywood movie star characters or political and financial wizards. But, these definitions change from generation to generation, while biblical standards, characteristics and measurements stand the test of time. Think about it, lots of young people today don't even know who Michael Jordan is/was? Or President Ronald Reagan or Arnold Palmer or Gregory Peck or Frank Sinatra or Fran Tarkington, and on and on, who once set the standard for manliness. Some of remember the famous catch phrase, "When E. F. Hutton speaks, everyone listens!" Ha, that big time financial company folded. Guess no one is listening to E. F. Hutton these days.

So, I invite you guys to come and study the changeless biblical measurements of a "REAL MAN."

And, by the way invite some guys to come with you.

Young Marrieds Small Group

This Sunday, Jan 18th we start a new small group with a new book! The book is "The most important year in a man and women's life" by Wolgemuth and Devries. You can find this book anywhere, the bookstore or online. It really deals with young couples in their first years of marriage and how important of a foundation they set for the rest of your life. It's easier to adjust, change and set a foundation early on in your marriage versus trying to fix a marriage after 20 or 30 years of damage, where most likely then it will end in divorce. It's never too late to start setting or REsetting a healthy foundation for your marriage.

We will meet every other Sunday from 12:15/ 12:30ish pm (right after church) to about 2:30ish pm. We will once again be meeting at the Kasper's house: 5111 Robin Lane Farmington, Mn 55024. If you need more directions other than map quest see us in church on Sunday. This Sunday if you can bring your own lunch with you, that would be great. We will look at other options such as rotating who brings lunch, bring your own lunch or everyone bring something to share on Sunday.

Please let us know if you will be here on Sunday. You don't have to have the book by then. The first time we meet we will give you the study guide portion to go with the first weeks reading.

Please let the Kaspers know if you have any questions. We look forward to having you all there!
